MELBOURNE, Fla. – A two-run first inning, including a solo leadoff homer by
Dana Edmundson, helped the Nova Southeastern softball team earn a 2-0 victory in game one of the three game series against FIT Friday afternoon at Nancy Bottge Field.
Edmundson, tallying her third leadoff home run of the season, gave the Sharks (20-17, 8-5 SSC) an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. The next batter,
Dakota Villella, reached on an error and a single through the left side to put the Sharks in scoring position. After two outs,
Alex Suzuki sent an RBI-single through the left side to score Villella, tallying the final run of the game and the eventual 2-0 winning score.
Overall, the Sharks out-hit the Panthers (19-18, 4-6 SSC) 8-1. Edmundson was a solid
2-for-3 while Villella finished 2-for-4.
Lexie Storrer (14-7) improved her win streak to seven games, tossing all 7.0 innings and allowing only one hit, striking out five and only walking one.
